Costume designs for Little Red Ridinghood from Into the Woods. On the left is a design based on traditional fairy tale illustrations. She wears a cotton blouse, with a cotton or linen bodice, linen skirt, and linen apron. The cloak would be linen or wool. The middle design is based off the Regency/Napoleonic era. It's taken from costumes worn by the character Margaret in Ang Lee's Sense and Sensibility. The dress is cotton and the cloak and hat are also cotton. The dress on the right is based on designs from Final Fantasy. The shirt is cotton with a leather belt. The skirt is cotton, as is the cloak. The designs are meant to be provocative, since that is the underlying theme of the story (see Bruno Bettelheim's The Uses of Enchantment.) The necklines are low cut. The skirts on the left and right designs are short. The costumes should flatter the figure. The middle design really doesn't have a lot of the other designs' elements because that wouldn't have occured during that historical period. But the bodice should be a little low and the fabric lightweight so it flows over the figure. Micron pen and Tombow marker on watercolor paper.

Thank you so much! I am also a huge fan of the show and was worried that the concept wouldn't translate well. I'm glad you liked how the costumes all turned out.
