Into the Woods- Witch Iby ~unusual-filament

Designs & Interfaces / Theatre Design

Costume designs for the Witch from Act I of Into the Woods. The design on the left is a traditional fairy tale witch. The fabrics used are of varying textures and weights, like wool and linen mixed with old brocade and rope trim. Her hair is more purple than I would have liked it to be. The middle the design is a Regency/Napoleonic era witch. The fabrics are mixed here as well, but more lightweight. The main dress would be heavy linen or wool with an overlay of organza and silk accents. The design on the right is taken from Final Fantasy 9. It may be hard to see, but the lace on her apron is actually designed to be the stories encountered in Into the Woods along with other fairy tales that have a witch in them. The ones here are, from the left, Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, Little Red Ridinghood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White, Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty.

Nice! They look very unique!
Although, the left two remind me of the witches in stardust. Like, Exact copies:[link] and [link]
